ABOUT SCHMIDT

So this is me.

I'm a freelance illustrator, writer and comic book artist living in Copenhagen, Denmark, with my wife and two daughters.

I have no formal education but started my career writing and drawing for the Danish roleplaying magazine “Fønix” and later became one of the editors. I have written numerous scenarios for Danish RPG conventions, and received several awards for my work in this media.

I published my first comic book “Night of the Long Faces” in 1999, a semi-biographical look at desperate nightlife, and the hard-boiled detective roleplaying game “Fusion” in 2000. I have since published two more books in the series, a short graphic novel in the same setting.

In 2011 my book “The Devil’s Concubine” was released in the US from IDW Publishing. I'm currently working on several YA novels and my next graphic novel project; “Stiletto” a spin-off of “The Devil’s Concubine” is expected release in Denmark in the Spring of 2013. I recently completed a 1-year Master Class in screenwriting at the National Film School of Denmark.

The purpose of this blog is to:

Inspire people to write, draw, create
Share some of the experience I've gathered through some 20 years as an artist
Promote new material and events
Help myself to focus on my goals
